We recently received some photos from Catering by Design in Denver, CO, that remind us that this summer is all about color! This event for NACE in Denver, CO, combines creative color with a stunningly bright menu — perfectly bright for the summer of 2012!
The past few years have been all about Pantone, the hue-masters who have been recently providing vibrant inspiration in fashion and design around the globe with their Color of the Year. This year’s color is Tangerine Tango, which I’ve been seeing in the shop windows here in Uptown Minneapolis all summer.
Our creative director, Jean Blackmer, has also been using Tangerine Tango in the magazine. “It’s the color of the year, and I love it because it’s already one of my favorite colors.”
Jean also picks Catersource magazine accent colors each year based on the color reports that come out of Pantone. Although there are four base colors for Catersource — shades of green, gold, orange and grey — Jean checks out the color reports from Pantone to see what the hot colors are each season. (Check out fall and spring 2012.) Then, accent colors throughout our magazine are derived from these highly fashionable hues. Keep an eye out for Regatta, a royal shade of blue that you’ll be seeing in the magazine come 2013.
At the Denver party, Catering by Design Chef Cade Nagy derived the colors from the existing menu items — and not the other way around — but made sure to choose bright colors for each dish.
